Ben Rice's music is deeply rooted in traditional blues, yet at the same time fiercely original. His guitar playing earns labels like "fearless," "inventive" and "powerful," and he routinely brings audiences to their feet with his stunning and emotionally honest vocal delivery. Ben is as much at home fronting his electric band as he is captivating a crowd solo with nothing but his voice and his acoustic resonator guitar.
"John captures the raw energy and grit of the classic blues musicians but pumped up to a rocking energy level. He has a deep understanding of the blues tradition that comes from hanging with the classic Chicago bluesmen, but he's created his own sound and style from these roots." -- Bruce Iglauer (Owner, Alligator Records )

"Vocalist Nikki Jones is one of the Pacific Northwest's most exciting new talents to arise in recent years. Born in Beavercreek, Oregon, to a family of musicians, she has been singing and playing from an early age. In 2015 she began singing with bands in Portland, and in 2017 she moved to Salem, Oregon, where she assembled a group of talented singers and musicians that came to be known collectively as Riven. They performed all over Oregon at venues in Salem, Keizer, Newberg, and Dallas, before eventually making their way to Portland in May 2018 to compete in the Journey to Memphis competition. This event marked the beginning of Nikki's own journey from rocker to blues singer, under the guidance of gospel blues singer extraordinaire Rae Gordon. In spring 2019, after numerous personnel changes which left her as the band's sole lead vocalist, she began performing under her own name. Nikki and her band will be appearing in Portland this May in the 2019 Journey to Memphis competition."
Papa D & Studebaker Road is a healthy heapin' of blues sensibilities with a decided twist for "the funk". The seeds of the band came when Papa D's band, The Sidemen, did a series of blues shows with featured guests. One such guest was Pete Johnson, of Longnecks fame. Both groups have garnered multiple awards and included many area musical greats performing all styles of blues at clubs, festivals, corporate events and private parties. In 2017 The Sidemen were Eastern Washington representatives in the Washington Blues Society competition for the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, making it to the Washington State finals. When The Sidemen declined to compete in the 2018 blues challenge Dave called up Pete and they entered as Papa D & Studebaker Road, reaching the Washington State finals for a second year. Papa D (Dave Green) is a nickname given by Dave's grandchild. Studebaker Road is a nod to founding Sidemen keyboardist, and musical genius, Richard Dines who fell to cancer in the spring of 2018. Richard grew up on Studebaker Road in California. Prior to his illness Rich and Dave had plans to retool The Sidemen under the name Studebaker Road.
